It’s no secret that we are fans of the modern, fresh and minimalistic aesthetic. Translucent and reflective surfaces are the rising stars in wedding decor ideas for the upcoming year. Lucite, glass and acrylic grant a modern, urban and industrial vibe to any wedding theme. Turned into mirrored or hand-painted surfaces, they add glitz and glam while staying on the affordable luxury side.
First of all, let’s find out what’s the difference between these materials. Nothing like a bit of knowledge to shop for the right thing, am i right?

When it comes time to shop for these acrylic wedding decor and details you’ll be faced with a choice materials. And you’ll wonder, what is the difference between Lucite and acrylic? Aren’t they the same see-through plastic?
Well, yes. But Lucite or Plexiglas are brand names for a high quality acrylic manufactured by DuPont. Regular acrylic is less expensive but easier to crack. Some acrylic is low quality and may not be as clear as a higher quality acrylic plastic, such as Lucite. Of course, these are wedding signs and not a permanent fixture, so more often than not, you’ll be good with regular quality acrylic.
If you are planning on hand delivering your invites, you should definitely consider acrylic wedding invitations. They are downright gorgeous and much less expensive than stamped gold foil or thermography. Often times, even less expensive than digital printing! On the downside, they can easily shatter – so you have to mail them in bubble wrap – and they could be terribly heavy. Consider the cost of mailing them before you indulge in these beauties. Personally, we love acrylic wedding invitations with a box. Don’t you?
