Winter is the most magical and romantic season to elope or get married. Get inspired by these amazing winter wedding ideas!

Winter does not necessarily imply a snow covered wedding. It really all depends on the part of the country you plan to celebrate your nuptials. We rounded up some advice and winter wedding ideas you can steal!

Big tip: think wintry weather and dress in layers, take advantage of the few hours of natural light for your photography and rock your faux furs, velvet attire, and other warm winter accessories.

What Colors are Good for a Winter Wedding?

The winter season offers a great variety of classy, elegant and romantic color combinations for weddings. From the classic and chilly all white wedding to the warmth of the reds, browns and greens. Think dusty rose and sage green for a vintage-inspired winter garden, or grey, gold and green for an awe-inspiring indoor reception at an industrial venue. Silver and powder blue will help bring the elegance of a French-provencal aesthetic to a beautiful and unique winter beach wedding. Mauves are perfect for romantic couples, red and white for the cheery ones and for the glamiest of glams, a white and gold color palette.

It’s no secret that we are fans of the modern, fresh and minimalistic aesthetic. So, it was only a matter of time before we would gather a TD (to die for) round up of acrylic wedding decor and details. We also decided we would share how to DIY a couple of these beauties, so that’s included on this article as well. As usual, take notes and copy away!

Translucent and reflective surfaces are the rising stars in wedding decor ideas for the upcoming year. Lucite, glass and acrylic grant a modern, urban and industrial vibe to any wedding theme. Turned into mirrored or hand-painted surfaces, they add glitz and glam while staying on the affordable luxury side.

First of all, let’s find out what’s the difference between these materials. Nothing like a bit of knowledge to shop for the right thing, am i right?

So, Is there a Difference between Lucite and Acrylic?

When it comes time to shop for these acrylic wedding decor and details you’ll be faced with a choice materials. And you’ll wonder, what is the difference between Lucite and acrylic? Aren’t they the same see-through plastic?

Well, yes. But Lucite or Plexiglas are brand names for a high quality acrylic manufactured by DuPont. Regular acrylic is less expensive but easier to crack. Some acrylic is low quality and may not be as clear as a higher quality acrylic plastic, such as Lucite. Of course, these are wedding signs and not a permanent fixture, so more often than not, you’ll be good with regular quality acrylic.

Acrylic Wedding Invitations: Pros and Cons

If you are planning on hand delivering your invites, you should definitely consider acrylic wedding invitations. They are downright gorgeous and much less expensive than stamped gold foil or thermography. Often times, even less expensive than digital printing! On the downside, they can easily shatter – so you have to mail them in bubble wrap – and they could be terribly heavy. Consider the cost of mailing them before you indulge in these beauties. Personally, we love acrylic wedding invitations with a box. Don’t you?

You’ve organized the seating arrangements but now the tables need numbering. These clear acrylic table numbers will fit the bill.

Here is how to DIY the acrylic seating charts shown below. Choose a font and print the contents of each table on a paper roughly the same size than the acrylic board. Secure it to the back of the board with scotch tape and trace the letters with erasable chalk markers. (You can order them from Etsy here.) Let them dry and remove the paper from the back. If you are a city couple at heart and adore wide raw spaces with exposed brick, an urban industrial wedding is for you. Get inspired by these lit ideas for your decor and even your dress. The most fab thing about these spaces is that they can marry any wedding theme you can dream of: vintage, organic, glam, classic, rustic or boho. They all exude this fine vibe filled with the finesse you want for your special day.

An industrial wedding is a great theme for non-traditional and unconventional couples who feel that raw spaces, like basements or unique venues, represent them best. Refurbished factories with exposed brick, straight lines, old pipes, earthy and moody color palettes are at the core of the urban industrial wedding. Decorate these spaces with easy finds and affordable materials. Steal these decor ideas that are taking over hunty and rock the industrial wedding vibe in style!

Choosing your Color Palette

The beauty of an industrial space is that it lends itself to any color palette and it makes it truly memorable. Consider the effect you would like to achieve. Boho brides may add whimsical and vibrant pops of color, go for pale blues or neutrals like ivory of gray for a more vintage look, or glamify with metallics. Choose a dark moody color palette for a downright impressive venue decor.

Spectacular Decor for an Urban Industrial Wedding

These raw spaces are non-traditional and unique. Many of them are factories, power stations, old churches, or even lofts with ample and open spaces that can look cold yet sober. They are a total declaration of independence from traditions that allow us to create spectacular effects and dramatic decorations. For example, the The Fermenting Cellar in Toronto, ON is an ideal setting for an industrial wedding.

The contrast of the hanging chandelier against the galvanized columns and the exposed cement bricks is worthy of the most sophisticated industrial weddings. The flowy pale blue table runner adds a touch of softness to the stark beauty of this old distillery.

The Exact Details for the Perfect Urban Industrial Wedding

An industrial wedding often seems undone and unstructured, but it is the exact opposite. For this wedding style, the details are of extreme importance and each corner and space must be well thought out and impeccably executed.

Wood, wrought iron, and cement are amongst the most used materials at an industrial wedding. Think construction materials from home improvement and supply stores. Another good source of decorations for these weddings are antique shops and flea markets that often feature furniture, art and metallic knick-knacks. All the perfect addition to the most on point details for an original, modern and urban industrial wedding decor.
