Tin cans on the back of the car have been part of the long list of wedding traditions since time immemorial. But do people really know their meaning?
Well, it was believed that their rattling noise would scare away evil and troublesome spirits and therefore protect the newly formed union. Nowadays tin cans on the wedding getaway car are more of a fun way of announcing the departure of the newlyweds.
Nature and seasonal details plus the traditional tin cans adorn this vintage wedding ride.
Simple Wedding Getaway Car Decoration Ideas: Calligraphed Signs
However, decorating the wedding car with tin cans is not the only way to embellish it. Nothing is more simple than a “Just married” sign on the back of the send-off car. DIY a beautiful and easy calligraphed sign, write or engrave your message on a small acrylic or wooden blackboard. Plain cardboard will do as well. Tie the sign with string to the back of the wedding car. Prettify it with flowers, ribbons and a huge bow smack in the middle of the arrangement.

Add eyelashes to the car’s headlights to make them look like eyes and place a “veil” on top. Of course, you can still add a decal or write “Just Married” on the car window of your choosing – if you believe having the getaway car looking like a bride is not enough! 😉

You are more than likely in awe of the simplicity and elegance of this PVC pipe wedding arch. We all tend to think of PVC pipe as cheap and ugly looking, but this has changed everybody’s minds. This is one of the amazing creations of Betsaida, destination wedding planner and founder of The Experialist in Barcelona, Spain.

Its height and strength needs to be adjusted according to the weight of the decorations you plan on adding. If you are not planning on purchasing a pre-made PVC pipe arch, make sure you strap or tether the base to keep it stable. Indoor PVC arches can be embedded in earth-filled flower pots. Otherwise, they do come with a base. Just make sure it’s heavy enough.
Next, you’re ready to attach your favorite flowers and branches to the PVC. Start at one end of one of the PVC pieces, tape or tie the end of the first string of flowers onto the pipe, and then just start wrapping the floral bouquets around, bunching them together as you go. Now, work the adjacent PVC piece, starting at the end where they both meet.
Balance the look with a pop of color on the diagonally opposite corner.

A tutorial for a floral twig arch that is a great fit for an industrial or modern wedding. To make this stunning curly willow arch, you will need 8 to 12 stems of seven foot tall curly willow branches, 6 to 10 stems of three to six feet tall curly willow, dried Larkspur, 2 large decorative planters or vases, 1 large bag of sand, wire cutters and floral tape.

Then, pick up the curvy ones, and put them to the left or the right of the straight ones.

Let’s secure the vases or planters by filling them up with sand to avoid tipping of the arrangements.
Now, we are ready to embellish this arrangement by inserting some dried white Larkspur at the base and attaching some to the branches with floral wire or tape.

Place it on an easel for all to see. Getting married at the beach? Write a warm message on some driftwood to give your sign that nautical vibe. There is much to choose from at boho weddings. Others to ask guests to sign their book or to grab a favor. Couples can also share their Instagram hashtag or their Snap filter with the guests and encourage their photo sharing.

This centerpiece could not be any easier and it will look striking on your tables. Most of the materials can be bought at the nearby dollar store. You will need terracota plates, glasses, terracota or plastic pots and your favorite flowers.
Make sure that the pots are filled with soil. That will make them sturdier and stronger enough to carry the weight of the top levels. Place the glasses with flowers evenly around each terracota plate. If you are crafty and want to turn these centerpieces into a permanent garden decor, you may drill through the plates (the pots already have holes) and secure a stick – a broom stick will do – all the way through.

Polaroid Wedding Guest Book Ideas: Selfies and more Selfies
We love the look of Polaroids, old and new. Vintage-themed receptions call for a Polaroid selfie guest book. Your guests’ photos will be instantly printed – after a few shakes – and they can write on the back their wishes for the newlyweds. But not every guest will want their picture taken, so it might be best to have an alternative way of signing the guest book. We also like the idea of having an attendant take the pictures – assign the task to a member or two out of your bridal squad.
Make a banner of the Polaroids and hang them all on some board.
Add instructions for your guests, something like “You Smile, We Snap, You Sign, We Cherish.” Another alternative is to look into more products that produce instant film, like printers that hook up to smart phones. That way they can take a picture on their phone and pick which one they’d like to print over bluetooth, and finally attach it where ever you’re asking them to.
This is a fab idea to be able to remember who was who at your wedding!
